How to handle the problems in running pellet machine

If the pellet machine failed to boot, you need to check the following points.

1. Whether the power supply is normal connected.
2. Whether the shearing pin is break down.
3. Whether the overtravel-limit switch is in place.
4. Whether the gateway of pellet machine is in place.

If the electricity power is unstable, the following factors and steps should be considered.

1. The space between compression roller and ring die is unsuitable adjusted.
2. Riving knife was badly worn, the material is asymmetrically distributed.
3. Semi-finished products or recycled material contains powder too thick (caused by damaged classifying screen).
4. Raw material, add fluid and steam were not fully mixed.
5. Transmission belt is not of reasonable tightness.

.

Correct operation of block grease when refuel the pellet machine

What is the correct operation of block grease when refuel the pellet machine, and how to solve the problems?

When refueling pellet machine, first shut the gas, then move block grease.
1. It is unavoidable forgetting to shut down the gas when moving block grease. In this circumstance it will be hard to move, do not move recklessly, shut the gas first.
2. If it was still hard to move after turning off the gas, please remove the inside hexagonal bolt to slide the block greases apart. Then put the two O shape rings correctly again in the middle of the block greases.
3. when the block greases is not linked to the oil line due to high pressure, the block greases will be cling. Just remove the inside hexagonal bolt.

Unusual sound and great vibration of pellet machine working

Pellet machine is working with unusual sound and great vibration. The following factors should be considered as main reasons causing it.

1. The raw material conveying is unstable, and feeding speed should be adjusted.
2. Worn deflection scraper caused uneven feeding, you should change new scraper.
3. Ring die and compression roller of the pellet machine are not all newly installed, it is better to collocate a new ring die with new roller.
4. The space between ring die and compression roller is discordant with the size of raw material. The space is need adjusting.
5. It may be caused by using of both old and new compression rollers, or worn and damaged compression rollers.
6. The formula of raw material is difficult to granulate, the formula should be modified.
7. It may be caused by insufficient steam supply or unstable pressure. Check the steam piping and the system pressure and pressure reducing valve.
8. Granulating granary was filled in sundries, remove sundries in granulating granary.
9. Worn or damaged main shaft bearing needs to change.

Knowledge from road construction and maintanence engineers and contractors

Basic Components of Road Marking Macine

Pavement marking equipment comes in many shapes and sizes. All equipment manufacturers have their own configuration of basic components for a given application. A long-line paint truck manufactured by one company may look considerably different from the paint truck of a different manufacturer.

Although a specific machine is built to apply a specific type of material, all pavement marking equipment, except preformed tape applicators, will generally fall into one of the following categories: long-distance road marking machine and hand-push road marking machine.

Long-distance road marking machine, as the name implies, are designed to produce long distance pavement markings. They are self-propelled and are equipped to carry relatively larger quantities of road marking paint material. Most are set up with more than one applicator or spray gun. Hand-push road marking machines, which are much smaller than self-propelled road marking machine, are generally designed for operators to walk behind. They can only carry a limited quantity of paint material.

Long-distance road marking machines vary somewhat from the specific systems they incorporate based on the type of pavement marking material they are designed to apply (paint, epoxy, thermoplastic paint, etc.). However, the following components can be found on all Long-distance road marking machines:
1. Air compressor (airless applicators included)
2. Material holding tank (with mechanical agitators)
3. Reflective bead tank (pressurized)
4. Cleaning system (cannot be in-line system)
5. Material heating system (if necessary)
6. Material applicators (spray guns, etc.)
7 Reflective bead guns
8. Control system (spray gun control, skip timer, etc.)
9. Counter system (for measuring distance and/or paint material)
10. Guidance aid (some means for the operator to line up with the road or with existing markings)

Pre-stripe Inspection

The following is the recommended procedure for the engineer prior to beginning work on the project:

a. The engineer or designee will become familiar with the equipment by walking around it with the operator. They should discuss how the machine is set up and how it operates. During this discussion, the engineer or designee should be assured that everything is in working order. The preceding checklist may be used as a guide for this procedure.
b. The contractor shall apply a sample marking for inspection. While this is taking place, the engineer or designee will ensure that the contractor is taking quality control test samples for thickness and width of material, and reflective bead application rate(according to government agency specifications). The results of the quality control tests shall be reviewed and discussed with the contractor.
c. Before proceeding with the work, the engineer or designee will inspect the marking and test panels for quality, clean edges, even bead distribution, proper bead depth, required width, and general appearance.

If any problems or inconsistencies are discovered, do not proceed the maring work!

Quality Control

Clear communication and cooperation yields positive inspector/contractor interaction and helps ensure quality. This is essential regardless of the type of work. Discuss any problems with the contractor's certified quality control technician and stay informed of the adjustments the contractor makes to correct them. The following guidelines will ensure proper quality:

Once the work is in progress, the engineer and contractor's quality control technician shall periodically stop, get out of the truck, and inspect the line.
Continuous close attention to the appearance of the line is the best way to ensure quality work.
Generally, inspection of the actual marking is the best tool for determining equipment problems.
Proper width does not ensure even edges.
Proper material thickness does not ensure adhesion.
Proper bead application rate does not ensure either retention or proper embedment.
To ensure quality, the pavement markings must be inspected closely.

Typically, the contractor's certified quality control technician is required to make the quality control checks according to the government agency's specifications. The purpose behind any quality control plan is to ensure quality. Whenever there are any doubts about the quality of the work, they MUST be investigated.

Deficiencies may or may not be due to equipment problems. When everything is working properly, pavement markings can be compared to an orchestra; all the components must work together. Material properties, weather conditions and operator skill can all affect the quality of the final marking. Diagnosing the cause or combination of causes for a given problem can be very difficult. Engineers and inspectors who are knowledgeable about pavement marking equipment are better able to identify equipment problems.

As always, it is the responsibility of the contractor to solve the problem. However, this should never be misconstrued to lead the engineer away from helping to identify problems. In other words, although the engineer cannot tell the contractor how to fix a problem, knowledgeable engineers can and should be considered a valuable tool for the contractor, always keeping in mind that quality is the main goal.

Terrible drilling rig construction accident warning safety operation

In Zhejiang province, China, a drilling rig overturned accident killed a 22 years' old work fellow.

It was a skilled drilling rig operator drave a 360 degree rotary drilling rig overturned, batter a 22 years' old worker to death. It was said that the drilling rig operator was too careless to find the collapse slope at night. The crawler drilling rig was overturned when the offside track grind the collapse. The operator was detained by the police.

Safety operation is of vital importance! Once driving on the drilling rig the mind should be on the alarm, watching every circumstance. Never work tired, stop to avoid accident, make safty first.

How to move the oil drilling rig onto location

A basic understanding of how to move the oil drilling rig onto location and maintain position during Drilling Operations will be required for the Drill Crew. It will also require the DP Operator to have an understanding of Drilling Operations and Limitations.

Pre-planning also plays a large part of the drilling operations and the more equipment which can be loaded or built and racked in the derrick before moving onto location the more efficient the drilling operations can be performed. One of the main limitations for the rig move can be attributed to deck loading and stability. This is an area which is controlled by the Marine Department and sometimes called a "black art" by the Drilling Department, the proposal is for both Marine and Drilling to have a basic understanding of each other duties and how the three "C"s mentioned above can assist each other during the day to day operations. The drilling operations will be broken into the following sections;
1. Preparing for rig move; Drilling tubulars, well consumables required, storage area required, third party personnel. Move the rig onto location. Future weather which may create limitations, planning operations around weather windows.
2. Bottom Hole Assemblies and what they contain and required to do. Abbreviations used and what they mean. Safety during "Top Hole" drilling, what is "Shallow Gas" and how would it effect the rig.
3. Spud In and set conductor. The importance to get the first casing set and cemented and how it could affect the rest of the well. What could happen when the drill string is attached to the casing and station / positioning of the rig is compromised by power failure.
4. 36" & 20" casing sections why are they required. Possible hole problems. The importance of a good cement operation for both sections. Standing Instructions in place do we understand them? Rig procedures do we follow them.
5. BOP and its components. Why is it required? How does it work? What do we need to know about it?
6. The importance of station keeping and the possible effect of being off location whilst drilling.
7. Drill string components being run down thru the riser / BOP and what does the Driller mean by "Non - Shearable".
8. Possible down hole problems; Stuck Pipe - Well Control - Deviation
9. Well Control Procedures
10. Wireline Logging and the equipment used.
11. Well Testing and what effect it has on the rig.
12. Plug and Abandon Operation

Well Control Problems and Well Control Procedures in Well Drilling

Well Control Problems

If we start from spud then the first well control problem encountered in well drilling would be Shallow Gas. About 20 years ago we used to drill and set the 30" casing and then run a Pin Connector, this was a hydraulic latch and flex joint assembly which you ran on the bottom of Riser. The idea behind it was that you could use mud to give you a hydrostatic column or hydrostatic pressure and control the shallow gas. In reality if Shallow Gas was encountered the riser became a funnel or channel for the gas to the rig and over the years after several incidents it was decided not to use a Pin Connector. If you drill into a Shallow Gas zone and the kill mud has been pumped then the rig can be moved off location by either lowering the drill pipe stand as the rig is moved or dropping the drill string and moving the rig up wind or current. The stability of the rig is greatly reduced due to the sea being aerated by the gas, further problems with fire or explosions compound the incident.
If an over pressured zone is drilled into and the casing is set and cemented correctly then 99% of well control problems can be controlled and corrected.

Well Control Procedures

The most common causes of kicks are;
1. Improper hole fill whilst tripping.
The most common is human error or not filling the hole with the correct volume of mud for the steel displacement. Basically every tubular has an equivalent volume of mud to either replace it when pulled out of the hole or when the drill string is run in the hole. If it is not monitored or measured correctly then the height of the mud will reduce and the hydrostatic pressure from the column of mud will reduce when the drilling string is pulled out of the hole. The Driller will use the Trip Tank to monitor the well whilst tripping or flow checking. On the Eirik Raude it is located in the deep well next to the ROV umbilical winch. Maximum volume for the trip tank is 14m3. When the Driller lines up to trip out of the hole, he will close off the Flowline to the mud pits and open the trip tank line, the Trip Tank has it's own dedicated centrifugal pump which circulates mud from the trip tank into the Diverter Housing, when the hole / riser is full it flows back down the dedicated return line back to the Trip Tank. The volume is calibrated /monitored carefully to the nearest 10 Litre of volume change.

2. Swabbing whilst POOH.
Swabbing is caused by pulling the drill string to fast, possible small clearance between the drill string and the hole, balled up bit or BHA, mud properties wrong. The most critical part when POOH is the first 5 or 10 stands out of the hole, if a slug has been pumped then it has to be allowed to equalise before tripping commences. The volume of mud required to fill the hole is measured every 5 stands and must be accurately measured and logged. The Driller will maintain a log of displacement for the whole trip out.

3. Shallow flows.
Shallow flows is as dangerous as Shallow Gas. The geometry of the different formations could allow formation fluids which are trapped at higher pressures to transfer through Faults or Fissures into the well bore creating a well control problem. Quite often a problem when drilling on land and near mountains where the water table is charged due to communication with rivers / glaciers / on the mountain. The extra height increases the hydrostatic pressure and when the formation is drilled into instead of being a Normal Pressured formation it is an Abnormal Pressured formation.

4. Insufficient mud weight.
Insufficient mud weight is where the hydrostatic of the mud column is less than the formation pressure. This could be human error where lighter mud has been pumped down hole or a higher pressured zone drilled into.

5. Drill into abnormal formation pressure.
Over pressured zone is where the overburden or the weight of the formations above are pressing down on a plastic / pliable formation or where there is communication due to a fault or from volcanic movement of the earth.

6. Lost circulation.
Lost circulation is where the mud weight is to high for the formation pressure and the weak formation breaks down.

7. Incorrect well planning.
Incorrect well driling planning could be used for wrong casing depths / wrong mud weights / wrong well geometry with regards to BHA design with soft-clay type formations.

Road Line Paint Precautions

Road Line Paint is used for interior and exterior use, marking car parks, demarcation zones etc. on concrete and asphalt surfaces.

Composition of road marking paint

Pigment : Lightfast Pigments and Mineral extenders (Glass Beads in the case of reflective version marking paint)
Binder : Modified Epoxy Ester.
Solvent : Aromatic Hydrocarbon.

Surface Preparation

Surfaces must be sound, clean, dry, free from all defective or poorly adhering material, dirt, grease etc. Due to the variably of asphalt, newly laid bitumen based surfaces (up to six months old) will need to be sealed with a coat of emulsion paint or shellac knotting, in order to prevent bleeding. A test area is recommended beore work is commenced.

Precaution safety, healthy and environmental information

In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice.
In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water an seek medical advice.

Problems and solutions of road marking--5

Problems of road marking-Skin Peeling off
On the highway construction, road marking, we often encounter the some kind of problems. I have accumulated some experienceam through learning and practice in the long-term highway construction, the following are several common problems and solutions on the hot-melt marking construction i will share with you.
1. Pavement breaks in the skin from the phenomenon. Adjustable coating formulations to increase the bond strength and flexibility
2. Road sweeper does not clean, not thorough, or not to use the next Paint. The construction procedure should be strictly in accordance with the construction to ensure construction quality
3. Under the Paint coating for a prolonged period without drawing a line (or sandstorm weather, construction) and easy to glue dust, can cause skin marking off date; the next Paint painting immediately after drying marking.
4. S-line coating moisture level of impact by road, the road there is water, or more humid must take measures to dry and after construction. To ensure that road construction should be dry, in exceptional circumstances, must meet deadlines, can be dried by artificial means;
5. Ambient temperature is below 5 ℃, the construction quality and unstable, prone to peeling off, melting temperature is too low, will seriously affect the standard line and the cohesive force of the road; if not handled under the Paint, the environment should the temperature at 10 ℃ the above construction is better. Paint coating to the surface temperature should not be less than the instantaneous 180 ℃; construction should be considered a winter's day from 10 am to 3 pm during the environmental temperature is not too low.
6. Paint melting inadequate mixing inequality. Construction of paint should be fully melted, stir well, and aging full post before being coated;
7. Cement road surface paint by the inappropriate choice of a new road paved with concrete and brittle due to surface layer of large and there is basic, easy-off from skin.
Should use permeable concrete pavement under the Paint treatment can improve adhesion strength. The new poured cement pavement careful cleaning.

Problems and solutions of road marking--6

On the highway construction, road marking, we often encounter the some kind of problems. I have accumulated some experienceam through learning and practice in the long-term highway construction, the following are several common problems and solutions on the hot-melt marking construction i will share with you.

Wear resistance problem
1. Road marking wear and traffic volume is directly related to the size. Traffic is heavy, large vehicles are more frequent lane changing sections, the general wear and tear on the fast road marking. In addition, the roads are sand and gravel over the dirt there, it will speed up the marking of the wear and tear. Marking wear resistance and paint itself, is the regulation of production formula, adding some wear fillers such as quartz sand.
2. To ensure a longer life of hot melt marking , we must choose according to different climatic conditions, paint formulations, buy quality and reliable performance and stable raw material. In the melting process in the strict control of temperature, stirring evenly, in the construction process, master the marking of construction speed, to ensure the uniformity of thickness to keep the road clean.

S-line deformation and tooth edge
1. Is mainly tire indentation and scar. Should choose a suitable viscosity and good fluidity of high-quality paint. Strengthen the construction management, coating completely dry open traffic.
2. Coating the surface of vertical stripes, due to hot-melt coating in the heat generated in the process of local burning may also be mixed with a foreign body. In addition, the paint bucket or paint defects notch cinder attachment, it will also result in vertical stripes. Surface in poor condition will directly affect the quality of marking the appearance affect the reflective effect at night. This first paint should she surface with a lateral stripe is due to paint bucket slot vibration, coating viscosity is too large road causes of inequality.
3. Should master the construction of temperature, hopper tank scraper timely inspection and processing. Thoroughly cleaning the road, the construction carts should avoid fighting tank shock.tart heating and melting, strict temperature control, does not allow for burning, and foreign matter mixed. The pre-construction deal with slot machines and the Big Dipper to conduct a thorough inspection and cleaning, so that in a normal state.

Computerised dosing system makes road marking easy

Summer is a busy period for road maintenance in Denmark, especially for road markers. Before the road marking machinery can be rolled out, the roads have to be dry and the surface temperature above 5 degrees Celsius or the paint will not dry. And with temperatures rising up into the high twenties during the day, the viscosity of the paint changes from thick to thin, which makes applying a uniform layer of paint difficult. Road marking machine operator found that variations in paint viscosity or machine speed made road markings uneven.

New road marking machines have a computerised dosing system, can realise auto feed. This ensures an even paint dosage - regardless of temperature, speed, or road surface. And the air pressure system that operates the pumps doesn't involve any mechanical parts, so the equipment has a long working life.

The dosing system is much more exact than that on other machine. Variations in temperature are no longer a problem because the flow is adjusted according to the viscosity of the paint, which gets thinner as humidity and temperature rises. So it's incredibly easy to use.

And with an air pressure system, the pressure on the dosing system adjusts according to the machine's speed. This makes road marking job much simpler. If slow down when going past a driveway, the pressure eases off the dosing system so that the same amount of paint is applied. This also makes it easier to train new machine operators.

A computerised calibration programme also makes it easy to change road marking paint type or supplier. When activated, a calibration test applies the paint at different pressures. This information is measured on a curve and can be stored in the computer's memory. When the new paint is used, the computer knows exactly how much pressure to apply to give the perfect road marking. The computerised road marking machine efficiently control the paint dosage to cuts paint consumption.

Poor Road Marking and Road Collision in South Africa

when concering the traffic road construction and the road marking, a terrible record noted me the implications of road marking. Poor road marking contributed greatly on the road collision in south africa.poor-road-marking-and-traffic-accident

During 1998 a total of 511605 collisions had been reported and included in the official South African statistics. This included 4270 fatal ollisions in cities and towns and 2990 fatal collisions in other areas (say rural). Casualties during this period numbered 129672 of which 4888 fatalities occurred in cities and towns and 4180 fatalities in other areas. The number of casualties on South African roads and streets during 1998 nevertheless, was markedly lower than previous years and was of a similar magnitude as the number recorded in 1993.

The typical pattern of road accidents was retained from that of the previous years. 53% (3840) of all fatal collisions occurred at night. 363 rural fatal collisions were the result of lane changing, overtaking or swerving. 238 fatal head on collisions occurred outside cities and towns killing 626 people. A very disturbing statistic is the fact that some 92% (2761) of all fatal collisions in rural areas occurred on general road sections other than at intersections or at points of control. In these collisions a total of 3852 people had been killed. All in all the total cost of collisions were stimated to amount to R13 446million during the year, or an incredible amount of 36.8 million per day!
The function of road markings is so significant in assisting drivers to avoid accdents in such rules:
Selection of a route (e.g. route numbers painted on the road)
Selection of specific manoeuvres (e.g. directional arrows)
Control of specific manoeuvres like overtaking (e.g. no-overtaking lines)
Selection and control of elementary manoeuvres like the lateral positioning within a lane (e.g. edge and lane lines).

Problems and solutions of road line marking--crack

On the highway construction, road marking, we often encounter the some kind of problems. I have accumulated some experienceam through learning and practice in the long-term highway construction, the following are several common problems and solutions on the hot-melt marking construction i will share with you.

cracks of road line marking

Due to the aging S-line cracks. Surface of the painting material degradation and natural weathering, so that marking cracks, aging marking paint cracks but also because long-term exposure on the road to withstand sun and rain, spring, summer autumn and winter, temperature difference between day and night and seasonal temperature changes, subjected to ultraviolet light role, subject to cyclical expansion and contraction arising. Cracks generated due to aging can only start from the selection of suitable painting to prevent premature aging painting, in the standard line of construction, strict control of temperature, to ensure the quality of pre-construction surface treatment to prevent foaming.

Microporous and bubbling Because of the hole in the air, water or dry the next Paint, in the painting under high temperature caused by expansion or vaporization. Expanding gas bubble is caused by painting from the top, porous painting is the expansion of gases, leaving behind holes pierced, so that painting the more common defects. Wet pavement porous and increase the chances of blistering, it is because the road is full of water or moisture in porous, high-temperature painting so that the water left in the micro-gasification and expansion of micro-bubbles formed, the next Paint contains some of low boiling point components, easy to dry, when the residue in the cavity was dry in the next Paint when the temperature painting, the play to the rapid gasification of the material expansion, the formation of micro-bubbles under the paint by. Microporous, marking not only affect the appearance of blistering, but also reduced the painting and the surface area of reality and seriously affect the paint adhesion and longevity. Therefore, opt for a variety of good fluidity of paint. To ensure dry and full sunshine after the rain has to go through before construction. Choose dry the next Paint fast, strictly control the temperature should pay attention to the construction with the ambient temperature.

Crack problem of road marking

On the highway construction, road marking, we often encounter the some kind of problems. I have accumulated some experienceam through learning and practice in the long-term highway construction, the following are several common problems and solutions on the hot-melt marking construction i will share with you.

1. Winter construction, painting case of cold-shrink, resulting in stress, this stress concentration at one point, easy to crack; the emergence of cracks due to the cold season and paintings and construction related to the performance, but also related to the situation with the road surface. In particular, the new paved road with fragile cement mortar layer, or conservation of film, easy to crack. How to prevent cracks due to cold, we should first select the appropriate construction season, try to avoid the cold winter marking construction. At the same time pay attention to the rational use of hot-melt painting, different seasons and their corresponding paint selection ratio. Newly laid cement road surface, curing time should be 2 weeks or more, the road on the conservation of fragile plaster layer or film, road marking should be cleaned up before construction.

2. Subgrade reflection cracks
Roadbed material generated by expansion or contraction cracks, or cracks due to uneven subsidence caused road markings such as cracks. Under normal circumstances can not be avoided, can enhance the quality of roadbed construction.

3. Road softened produced cracks in some places in summer temperature of 40 ℃ or above, high-temperature asphalt pavement under the hot sun can reach 60 ℃ or above, asphalt softened, while the painting is relatively hard, at the wheel impact load that may arise under the soft-road crack. Produce soft pavement cracks is the direct cause of the soft and hard surface paintings and the extent does not match the shock loads generated, should be an appropriate adjustment formula can ease.

4. painting is a painting of surface crack after construction, the surface irregular mesh cracks, this crack depth shallow, but often a basis for further development as the aging of cracking, so that painting damage. To prevent painting the surface of dry, we should start a good selection of compatible resins and additives to start, pay attention to the temperature control of the construction.

Well Completion in Oil Well Drilling

Well completion
The wellcompletion project is the last process of well drilling . The well completion project is not just the cement injection, but also process related to oil and gas well productivity improvement. In recent years from kinds of aspects, there came out many new understanding, ideas and innovation methods to protect project and increase the degree of wells perfection.
The well completion project is cohesion of drilling engineering and oil extraction. It is a relatively independent project, a comprehensive system engineering from oil layer drilling, well cementation, well completion, to oilproduction. The well completion project contains processes like unload casing pipe, well cementation, perforation, production casing pipe, drainage and production.

Some key scheme requiring attention
(1) the core analysis and sensitivity analysis
The core analysis: conventional, chip, X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy (sem)
Sensitivity analysis: water sensitivity, speed sensitivity, and sensitivity of acid, alkali and salt
(2) open oil rock layer drilling
(3) the well completion way and method
According to the geological characteristics of oil field development mode, well difference, rock lithology, the well completion is basically divided into two categories: open hole completion and perforation completion. While, open hole completion have different methods, containing uncased hole, cut and sew screened pipe and wire wrapped liner pipe gravel filling. Perforation completion contains well-case perforation, tail pipe perforation, and wire wrapped liner pipe and gravel filling.
(4) selection of oil tubing and size of production casing
Selection of oil tubing and production casing should be based on pressure system analysis(sensitivity analysis of oil layer, well hole and the ground pipe line). And oil tubing sensitivity analysis is comprehensive analysis of the oil reservoir pressure, production, ing fluid quantity, the fluid viscosity, production stimulation measures and exploitation way.
The traditional method is to selecte production casing first ,then decide the size of oil tube.

Common Problems and Solutions of Hot-melt road marking-01

Introduction of road marking
The main role of the road markings are: the implementation of lane road, through the drawn lines on the road traffic signs to guide different types of vehicles at different speeds along a designated route prevails so as to improve road transport capacity and reduce traffic The purpose of the accident; instructions and notices to the driver through the traffic markings to predict road conditions and clarify their use and access roads of the rights and obligations and methods; for law-abiding and law enforcement to provide a legal basis.

Highway marking paint mainly using the following categories: solvent-based paint, heat-based paint, hot melt painting(also known as thermoplastic road marking paint), two-component road marking paint , water-based paint and other types.
The highway construction, used for traffic engineering in the road marking paint material performance requirements of a high. First requires drying time is short, simple operation, in order to reduce traffic interference; Second, the demand against the reflective ability, bright, reflective high, in order to have a good day and night visibility; third, it has good slip resistance and wear resistance in order to ensure road safety and marking life. Hot-melt-type reflective coating of its features are: a quick-drying, drying time for 1-3min. Synthetic resin will be colored pigments, physical pigments, reflective materials, combined with the road surface, with strong adhesion, stable performance, color, degree of brightness and reflective characteristics of a long time, and it has good wear resistance and slip resistance. Therefore, highway construction in China road markingmaterials, mainly thermoplastic road marking paint and thermoplastic vibration reflective road marking paint.

Common Problems and Solutions of Hot-melt road marking-02

On the highway construction, road marking, we often encounter the some kind of problems. I have accumulated some experienceam through learning and practice in the long-term highway construction, the following are several common problems and solutions on the hot-melt marking construction i will share with you.

Discoloration issues
1. Melting temperature is too high or hot-melt process of burning the bottom of the kettle. Solution would be to strictly control the temperature, the operation carried out before the end of hot-melt tank cleaning.
2. Substandard quality of the product itself, is likely to paint deterioration. Number of products in the professional inspection prior to the construction sector should be tested, qualified only after construction of the use of.
Night reflective road line problem
1. issue a poorly reflective at night. Construction, the wind was being blown towards the larger glass beads; Spreader machine rocking tilt causes uneven surface scattering glass bead spreading. Solution is to install the windscreen glass Bo Sabu machine and make a painting operation of preparatory work, to master the speed of construction progress.
2. Premixed and surface impurity scattering glass beads too much into the circle rate is low, particle size distribution is poor, painting liquid does not meet the technical requirements, inadequate viscosity, softening point is too low and other reasons, will result in the phenomenon of night-time reflective ineffective. These are all products of inferior quality. Should be used in the construction of qualified products.

The function of EVA in thermoplastic road marking paint

EVA (ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer) applied in road line construction as a component of road marking paint, especially thermoplastic road marking paint.
EVA resin is characteristic of good flexibility, the elasticity as rubber, under conditions below -50 ℃will still be able to have good flexiblity, transparency, and good surface gloss, good chemical stability, and strong aging resistance and ozone resistance, non-toxic. And easy to mixed with the packing, dye and mould informing process.
VAC (vinyl acetate copolymer) played a great role in the EVA resin's characteristics for its content, molecular weight and melt index. When the molt index (MI) is fixed, increase the content of VAC , its flexibility, softness, compatibility, transparency and so on also will be improved. When reducing the VAC content, the feature is similar to polyethylene, improved in rigidity, wear resistance and electric insulation. If in a definite VAC content , the melt index increased, the softening point will drop, moulding processing and surface gloss improve, but rigidity will decline. Otherwise, lower the MI with molecular weight increasing, impact resistance and environmental stress cracking performance is improved. The polarity of acetate moiety increased theflexibility and viscosity of EVA, crystallinity and electrical performance drop, making EVA soluble in hydrocarbon solvents and oil.
EVA, Vinyl acetate content of 20 to 28 percents, is mainly used for hot melt adhesives and paint products, as thermoplastic road marking paint.

Figure painting taking place of road marking lines making driver slow down

Figure painting taking place of road marking lines making driver slow down

Normally traffic management department applied the double white solid line in the crossroads to slow down the traffic. Besides the vibration reflective lines, with bumps to slow down drivers. However, traffic accidents still caused great number of tragedies.

New countermeasures raised great attentions.Aschool in Canada is using a bizarre 3D optical illusion of a young girl chasing after a ball on the road to make drives slow down.

At a distance it just looks like a marking on the road but when the car is 30 metres away it appears to suddenly rise up from the road. If a car is travelling at the speed limit for the road, 30km/h, then he should be able to stop in time before he reaches the image.

Tips for buying road marking machine

First, do not give priority to low price, for each road marking machine has a cost, the value of goods we buy is the products quality and reliability. No manufacturer is willing to sell products less than its cost. The so-called low price is often means low quality and high maintenance rate.
Second, choose a standard manufacturer. Big producers, often have ripe production lines, passed by the test of the market, and the mature management system can give the customers better quality service.
Third, try to visit the factory of road marking machine manufacturer. See the actual situation of the manufacturer will understand the actual strength of the company, if workshop has a strict discipline and things put in order, clean and tidy. So the manufacturer of the product is also worthy of that trust.
Forth, pay attention with the old customers’ respond to the machinery company.
Fifth, compare with a few companies, select one more rigorous in management and the service attitude.
Sixth, some of the details for cooperation partners, must be carried out in the contract, not oral commitment.
Seventh, buy a road marking machine according your needs. Because there are many kinds of road marking machine, like thermoplastic road marking machine, cold solvent road marking machine, two-component road marking machine. And some Hand-push marking machine, suit for short distance road line marking, used in car parks and logistics parks, residential areas, squares. Others suit for long distance road marking such as Truck mounted marking machine and self propelled marking machine.

Catastrophe caused by lack of road marking lines, justice pending

A woman motorist whose mother and aunt were killed after she drove through a crossroads and a van collided with her car has lost a bid to sue a roads authority.

Ruth MacDonald, of Slackbuie Way, Inverness, blamed Aberdeenshire Council for the tragic, fatal accident in which she was injured claiming it had failed to put up sufficient signs and to maintain visible road markings.

Two days after the crash in May 2006 on the A97 Banff to Aberchirder road at Mill of Brydock “Give Way” markings, which had been scrubbed by traffic, were repainted at a cost of £150, it was said.

Mrs MacDonald maintained she was not aware that she was approaching a junction as she drove on a unclassified road heading for Inverness.

But the local authority successfully had £100,000 damages claim dismissed at the Court of Session in Edinburgh after maintaining it had no duty of care towards her or her mother Susan MacLennan (64) of Aird Avenue who died following the collision along with her sister Catriona Robertson (72) of MacKay Road, both Inverness.

Lord Uist said: “By painting lines at the junction because of the perceived risk of collisions the roads authority had not somehow imposed on themselves, retrospectively, a common law duty to paint the lines or, prospectively to paint them back if they were obliterated.”

In her action Mrs MacDonald (34) maintained there were “insufficient signs and markings” on the road to alert drivers to the junction and that they were to give way to traffic on the other route.

She said there had been road markings, double white lines and a triangle, but they had been scrubbed out by traffic over a period of time.

It was maintained that at that time the council system was for monthly inspections to be carried out on the road and one had taken place in April and there was “an open works order” indicating some repairs were necessary and markings were to be re-lined.

The local authority maintained Mrs MacDonald ought to have been aware she was approaching a junction from the road configuration and should have been keeping a good lookout for other traffic, such as the Ford Transit.

It was argued as had previously been stated in cases there were good policy reasons for not creating a duty of care in such cases. Public resources were scarce and drivers had to look after themselves by guarding against any danger on the roads.

The judge said no case was cited to him in which a road authority was held to be at fault merely because of a failure to mark white road marking lines or erect a warning sign at a junction and the fact that white lines had been put there previously had no bearing on the existence of duty.

Massive offences caused by over road marking lines call on road islands to keep drivers in line

The City of Cape Town will be erecting solid islands along Nelson Mandela Boulevard to prevent drivers from crossing back on to the freeway after using the slipway roads to bypass gridlocked traffic.

Traffic authorities have received numerous complaints about car and minibus taxi drivers forcing their way back on to Nelson Mandela Boulevard after using the slipways along the busy road.

JP Smith, mayoral committee member for safety and security, inspected the area with officials of the transport, roads and stormwater department on Friday.

Ideas coming from the inspection include the building of solid islands as well as putting in raised barriers where there are now solid white lines.

Flexible poles will be used along Hospital Bend, which will snap back after being hit and will cause “minimal damage” to vehicles.

Smith said another common complaint they received was motorists crossing over several lanes along Hospital Bend.

Then the flexible poles will also be used.

Developments of road marking paint in China

Road marking paint development contributes great in progress of road construction in china. But there are still some problems in this new technology application .

Most roads in China have no marking lines before 1980s. In some road with making lines, 90% of the road marking paint is Normal temperature solvent-based dry paint , with short service life (about half a year or so), and weak visual confirmation feeling. While in the developed countries, 90% of the road marking paint is thermoplastic reflective paint. Since the 1990 s, the country had used the thermoplastic reflective road reticule coating for the first time in highway road marking, won a very good effect. Then after many years of research and exploration,  thermoplastic reflective paint has been widely applied in road traffic projects. This paint is thermoplastic, must heat to melt , then added with coated glass bead to realize the effect of reflecting light before use. With the opening and reform and the development of science and technology, in the 20th century a new type of road reflect light paint attracted great attention, that is vibration reflective road marking paint. But it was rarely applied because of its high price. And, at the beginning it was imported from Japan, only used as signs for slow down. When traffic running on the vibration reflective lines, the bumps of the paint generates vibration and gives the driver a sign to slow down.

Until the 21st century, there are a lot of manufacturers in China began to develop and research in this paint, and start to product, and then China began extensive use of it in the highway. In recent years, with China's rapid development of road construction, each year, investment capital in transportation construction of was more than 200 billion Chinese dollar, as high as 390 billion in 2003, of which, 350 billion was invested in highway construction. By the end of year 2003, the road mileage was up to 1.81 million km, was the fourth in the world. The highway mileage reached a total of nearly 30,000 km, leaps to the world's second place behind the United States.
The road traffic line, as the lifeblood of the control and guidance of the road traffic, the number of system to delimit and mark is very big, the consumption of road traffic line paint soared, estimated roughly, every year 150000 tons for maintenance and new construction of road. However, because of the reasons of the quality of construction, there are also some problems and dissatisfaction of the thermoplastic paint. First, single species, can’t choose reasonably, to cause waste. Second , unsuitable use of reflective glass bead, makes the effect of the reflective road line not good. Third, ignoring of the performance of preventing sliding makes the road marking lines hidden danger for vehicles skid and drift accident.

Road Marking and Lines Distinctions-Road Marking Machine

Road Marking and Lines Distinctions-Road Marking Machine
Road marking mainly refers to road surface line marking. The line marking has strict requirements of its performance and quality to stand the sun-scorched and rain-drenched, freezing wind and snow, and abrasion from vehicl impact. Besides, it first demands short  drying time and simple operation to reduce the traffic interference. Second it requires great reflection ability, bright colours and strong  luminosity, to ensure a good visibility both in daytime and light. Third, it needs reliable sliding resistance to ensure the traffic safety and abrasive resistance to ensure long service life.
By direction pattern, road traffic lines can be divided into the following three categories:
a) The longitudinal traffic lines, along the road traffic;
b) Crosswise traffic lines, with a Angle to the road and traffic direction ;
c) Other lines, character mark and sign or other form of lines.
By direction pattern, road traffic lines can be divided into the following three categories:
a) The longitudinal traffic lines, along the road traffic;
b) Crosswise traffic lines, with a Angle to the road and traffic direction ;
c) Other lines, character mark and sign or other form of lines.
By morphology, road traffic lines can be divided into the following four categories:
a)solid or dotted line, marked on the road, pavement edge or facade.
b) character signs, such as words, digital and various graphic symbol marked on the road surface.
c) bump road signs, Reflector or not reflective body instaled for marking boundary, edge, lane, corner, dangerous road section, road range to change and obstacles
d) road contour identifying signs, Reflector (or reflected tablets)installed on both sides of the road, to indicate the direction of the road, the drive lane boundary contours.
The distinction of road traffic lines
a) White dotted lines, when marked in the middle of road is to separate driving traffic flow in the same direction or as the safe driving distance identify lines; when marked at the crossing is to guide travel vehicles.
b) White solid lines, when marked in the middle of road is to separate the motor vehicles and bicycle in same direction, or instruct the edge of lanes;when marked at crossroads, it can be used as a lane guide line or stop line.
c) Yellow dotted lines, when marked in the middle of road is to separate driving traffic flow in the opposite directions, when marked in the curb or on the curbstones is to prevent long curb parking.
d) Yellow solid line when when marked in the middle of road is to separate driving traffic flow in the opposite directions, when marked in the curb or on the curbstones is to prevent either long or temporary curb parking.
e) Double white dotted line in the crossroads is to slow down to give way; When set in road sections, is as e variable lanes when driving direction changes.
f) Double yellow solid lines, marked in road sections is to separate the traffic flow in the opposite directions.
g) Parallel yellow dotted and solid lines, marked in road sections is to separate the traffic flow in the opposite directions. On the side of yellow solid line, traffic overtaking, cross or return is forbidden, on the side of yellow solid line, safe traffic overtaking, cross or return is allowed. Double white solid line in the crossroads is to slow down to give way.
By the road marking paint material, road traffic lines can be divided into the following 6 categories:
1)Solvent-based coating marking
2) thermoplastic road marking
3)Water-based coating marking
4)Bi-component  paint marking
5)molding marking
6)Cold model coating marking
By purpose, road traffic marking lines can be divided into the following 6 categories:
1) the non-reflective line
2) reflective line
3) bumps vibration lines
4) slippery prevention line
5) rainy night line
6) other lines

shotcrete problems and solutions 01

In the process of operating shotcrete machine, there will be conditions like rotor jams, discharge elbow jams and feed delivery pipe jams. The following are reasons caused the jams and solutions.

First, the aggregate is oversize. To solve the feed delivery pipe jams caused by oversize aggregate, should first turn off the machine from rotating and close the pneumatic valve, removed the feed delivery pipe from the elbow end, open the valve of gas path to blow the stock of material out the rotor. Then check the feed delivery pipe, knock blocked section with a sticks, vibrate the tamper loose or empty it (note: turn down the pressure to zero before unpack the feed delivery pipe elbow or pipeline). Finally the feed delivery pipe to the elbow end again, to blow out the tamper with pressed air.

Second, the dry mix contains too much water. For too much water of dry mix, stop the machine, shut off the wind valve, if the discharge elbow is blocked, open the delivery pipe, clean the elbow and rotor material cavity, and reduce the water cement ratio.

Third, the press of convey airflow is too low. For the low conveying air pressure, stop the motor and ventilating duct. If the rotor jammed, seperate apart the blast pipe and upcast ventilation pipe, brush cleaning materials such as the rotor cavity.

Fourth, the fracture section of the blast pipe is too narrow, which leads the small blast volume of air compressor. For small fracture section of the blast pipe and volume, replace large sections of wind, and change for air compressor with large capacity.
